1.Being late for an interview
Being late for an interview means that you are not punctual and disciplined in your life. You do not follow time constraints which are very important in a life of a person.
Being late for an interview would leave your imageirresponsible and casual towards the professionalcareer as well as your way of handling things. So try not to be late for an interview so that your employer may get a good and disciplined image of you. Take precautionary measures for the constraints like traffic jam, vehicle disorder etc.
2.Inappropriate Dressing
Every event has some norms associated with it in every society. For example, you go to a party in a party dress and you would not dress up like you are going to a funeral.
Similarly, job interview has some norms and rules to dress up and if you do not follow that you will leave an image of casualness on your employer. Nowadays it has become very important to follow the culture of the organization you are working in because employers take every employee very seriously as the competition has increased. So the employer would not like you if you are not properly dressed for an interview.
3.Do Not Casually Greet the Employer
Do not ever try to greet the employer as if he /she is your friend or acquaintance. This leaves an impact of over confidence and extra friendliness which makes no sound or look good.
For Example you walk into the interview room and you greet your employer like “HEY JOHN! How are you”? Do not show such attitude as it would annoy the employer because of the fact that the employer would be defined on the senior post and it is necessary in an organization to follow the organizational hierarchy of work.
4.Do not be Ignorant about the Organization
If you walk in for an interview in any type of organization, then keep your knowledge about that organization that, what does it do, what are the organizational goals, what is it meant for etc. If you are ignorant about the organizational tasks and purpose that would too annoy the employer as your interest will depict that you are interested in working with the particular organization and you take that organization seriously.
Your keen knowledge will depict that you are not merely there for an interview but you are interested in working with the team of that organization and for that organization. So keep your knowledge up to the grade about that organization in which you are going to appear for an interview.
5.Do Not Talk Too Much
Do not talk too much in an interview. It may irritate the interviewer and leave an over friendly impact of a person. Just answer the questions asked and do not jump on to the conclusion of the interview until the interviewer asks to do so. Be calm and answer questions in a decent manner.
6.Do not be Mr. Know-it-all
Do not ever shoe that you know all or you have extra knowledge about any field. Treat your employer as your senior and disagree with him in a proper way, if you think that he is saying something wrong.
The employer may be doing it to test you. If the employer still doesn’t agree, do not show that you know more than him, just exit the argument in a polite way so that there is no hard talk between you and the employer.
7.Do not ask about Job Benefits
Do not ask about the benefits offered in a job until told. That leaves a bad impact on the interview that a person is more interested in the perks being offered rather than the organizational knowledge.
If you are asked that what salary you are expecting from an organization just decently answer that question and do not argue about salary with an employer.
